Grigor Dimitrov began dating Maria Sharapova in late 2012. They were in a relationship for two years. The two tennis players announced their relationship during the 2013 Madrid Open, which lasted only until 2015.
Sharapova disclosed that the Bulgarian had afterward asked her to be his girlfriend. “I was taken aback by it. For anything like that, I wasn’t prepared. He promised to hold off until I was prepared. Let me wait. I am aware of what I desire, and it is you. Nothing could stop us as the weeks turned into months.” She claimed.
Sharapova also made it clear that the time of their relationship was a significant issue for her in how they split up.
The two decided to separate ways during the 2015 Wimbledon competition. Sharapova believed she couldn’t be with Dimitrov at that point in her life.
She said, “On the biggest stage of my career, I was supposed to be focused and ready for my matches, victories, and losses.”
“His sharp memory was thus inferior to mine. Only because I had lost did what meant everything to him happen,” he added.
Sharapova revealed how Dimitrov contacted her through her agent, saying, “I googled Grigor’s name to find his age. Was he even his legal age? Twenty-one. Barely. Please give him my email. I recalled seeing a young boy in Wimbledon Village who was tall, trim, and sporting a confident smile that suggested he was aware of his attractiveness.”
The Bulgarian player was also in a romantic relationship with another tennis legend Serena Williams in 2012 before dating Maria.
